My Essentials For Working From Home: Part 3

Whenever I am editing wedding photographs or designing albums, I love listening to podcasts. They help me focus and get work done faster! It’s one of the reasons I love to edit photographs – I get to learn from some really wise and inspiring people while I work.

If I’m editing photographs or designing albums, I listen to either my favourite podcasts I’m subscribed to in iTunes or Spotify playlists. However, when I need to write emails or blog posts, I listen to either a lyrics-free playlist on Spotify, or simply switch on my noise cancelling headphones on, and listen to nothing!

I used to listen/watch videos on the side of my computer, but anything visual was way too distracting for me. I also ban myself from YouTube when I work, it’s the quickest way to kiss my day goodbye!

One of the many beauties of working from home is that the space is your own. You can decorate it exactly how you like, and make it a place you’re excited to work from! For me, there are some simple necessities I have in my day that keep me excited about my work, and make my workspace a welcoming one.

My essentials for working from home. Part 1.

I LOVE working from home! Now, a little disclaimer: I have only worked in an office situation when I had part time jobs through Uni (for a graphic design print agency + at the University of Auckland as their assistant photographer), so I haven’t properly experienced the 9-5 job, year in, year out. But even on the days where I long for work colleagues, I hope nothing will ever take me away from working at home! When we first moved to Melbourne, I worked from the corner of our living room, for a year and a half. It certainly wasn’t without it’s challenges, but was actually completely doable. At the moment, I’m blessed have a separate office space at home, I’m so thankful to now be able to close the door at the end of a workday.
